Kohli's Slump... When will it end??

23/08/2022

Virat Kohli has been the backbone of Indian cricket for the past decade. He has captained India to historic wins that are etched in cricket history. His class, and consistency has always been something he was good at, but the last few years have been really hard on him.
"Form is temporary but class is permanent". Classy is the definition of this man.

With the Asia Cup coming up and the T20 WC around the corner he needs to be fresh and in form. In the past 2 years he has had trouble with swing and has been edging it to the keeper so many times.

The stress he has needs to reduce and needs to come back better and faster. A break. Thats what he needs. To stay away from the bat. Clear his mind.

Here are some Kohli Stats:
In 2020, he played 3 test matches making 116 runs at an average of 19.33. ODI's have been better for hm though scoring an average of 47.88 in 9 games. In 2020 he also played 10 international games played (batted for 9 innings), he scored 295 runs at 36.87, scoring at a strike rate of 141.82. In the IPL, he played 15 games and scored 466 runs which came at an average of 42.36, but the strike rate dropped to 121.35.

2021, he played 11 tests and made 536 runs at an average of 28.21. In 2021, he played just three ODIs in the home series against England. He averaged 43 and scored 56, 66 and 7 in those three games. IFor T20, he scored 299 runs in 8 innings at 74.75 and his strike rate was 132.88. In the IPL, however, he had an average performance. He scored 405 runs at 28,92, striking at 119.46.

In 2022, in the 4 test matches played, he has scored 220 runs till now, at an average of 31.42, including the two games against Sri Lanka at home. He has scored just one half-century in the current calendar year. In ODI's he has scored 142 runs in 6 games. Though he played well in the tour to South Africa, scoring two 50+ scores in three games, he failed to score in the home series against West Indies. His average for 2022 dropped to 23.66. He has played 4 T20I, scoring 81 runs at an average of 20.25. His trike rate is what is a matter of concern as it dropped to 128.57 in the internationals and 115.99 in the IPL. In the IPL, he had his worst average since 2009, as he scored 341 runs in 16 games.

It has also been realized that Kohli's hunger for the game has seemed to be reduced. With commitments to his wife and young daughter he has seemed to be more calm. The passion and aggresion he had during the game needs to come back for his big return.

He recently let out a interview called heart to heart where he talked about his recent form and the biggest thing he said was "It is worse to pretend to to be strong than admit to be weak". THis statemeny I think shows how he has been dealing with this stress and that he might just be OK...

For all the Kohli Fans out their... Watch Out. I promise that Asia Cup will be his return. The BIGGEST, BEST return you guys will ever see....
